Well Theatre Arts was quite interesting today. We all voiced our own opinions on what we thought of the production of Tartuffe which we went and saw on Thursday the 6th. It was very intriguing to discover what Ronelle and Ashleigh thought of the play, including what Mrs. Anketelle thought! We all agreed that the Russian Dew maid (Dorine) just didn’t make any sense throughout the whole play, we could hardly understand her! Here are some of my personal thoughts towards the play:

Ø Dorine, I couldn’t understand a word she way saying!

Ø Personally I didn’t like Mariane because she stomped around the stage in her high heels and acted like a spoiled brat. I know that this was part of her role but I feel as though she just took it overboard!

Ø Orgon was amazing, Barry Otto is truly amazing! He played both Orgon and the grandmother perfectly. It was almost as if he actually was the actual character!

Ø I really didn’t think the whole homosexual theme was necessary in this play. There are other ways in which Orgon could’ve shown complete admiration to Tartuffe. It just didn’t fit in with the rest of performance!

Ø I did love the heightened performances. Every actor was full of energy for the whole performance and I thought that gave it a great feel as the climax is near the end of the play, therefore a lot of energy would have been focused there.

Ø The songs and dancing; didn’t need them! But sort of a cheesy way to get a few laughs from the audience I thought.

Also, there were very few props used on stage, here is a list:
